Dingle during week of May 17th

We are self-catering in Adare the week of May 17th. We will be visiting Dingle during this time frame and wonder if there's anything special going on we should be aware of? We plan to get up early and drive to Dingle for the day. Thanks for any information!

Nothing springs to mind, but keep an eye on this site:

http://www.dinglenews.com/events.asp

and here's some information on sites and sights along the Slea Head Drive:

and my favourite shops, cafes etc in Dingle town:

Hope you have a lovely day on the Peninsula!

I'm not aware of any particular special events in Dingle that week, but check the events page on www.dinglenews.com nearer the time.

You might consider a visit to Crag Cave near Castleisland on your way from Adare to Dingle

www.cragcave.com

Adare to Dingle will take about two hours. For a spectacular view take the Connor Pass road into Dingle

If you have kids the boat ride to see Fungie the dolphin is enjoyable, and Dingle has a great aquarium.

The Slea Head drive, west of the town is spectacular. Allow a couple of hours at least for this

Both of these have lots of info:

Many thanks to both of you for these tips. I will certainly look into the websites you suggested. Is it better to take the Connor Pass on our way into Dingle from Adare, or take it after we do the Slea Head drive back to Adare?

Probably best to take it on the way back to Adare, that way you get spectacular views of Tralee Bay.

Do not be put off by reports on driving the Connor Pass, yes it is narrow in places but its well worth the drive !!!

It depends what time you are heading back. If it is till daylight, do it on the way back. There is a car park at the top so you can get out and see the views in both directions.

As you begin to descend from the top (towards the Tralee side), the road narrows. Don't be alarmed, there are just two short sections like this, before the road widens again.

After the two narrow sections, yopu will come to a small waterfall on your right. A short climb up a pathway here takes you a hidden gem, Pedlars Lake, perched 1500 feet above the valley
