Elba ferry - need to book ahead?

Hi - we will be heading over to Elba on Sunday 22nd July as footpassengers - do we need to book ahead or just turn up? As we are travelling down from Pisa, not sure what time we will arrive! Thanks

Urs, no need to book if you are footpassengers.

There are 4 ferry companies. Take the first available watching out where they go. Most go to Portoferraio, others go to Rio Marina or to Cavo.

Do you need to book ahead if you are crossing with a vehicle?

Sorry to jump in with a follow up question, but I am in a similar situation as the OP (2 people, no car), except traveling in August. Is it safe to assume that the same answer applies to us as well and that it is not necessary to pre-book the ferry even during that peak month?

It also looks like there is no difference in price between pre-booking now and booking last minute...

Hi!

If you haven't got a car there's no need to book. No problem for passengers.

The nearer you get to your date less difference there is in prices

Bye 😎
