Milano Marittima or Lido di Savio

Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me which resort is better for a family with young kids? Looking for a good sandy beach, good not too expensive restaurants and shops, etc. travelling in early June. Thanks a million!;-)

It may look a bit silly - answering my own question, but it might be helpful for somebody else looking to travel to that location. We have just come back from 2 weeks holiday in Lido di Savio, where we had stayed in Palace Lido Hotel on an all inclusive plan.

Basically, Lido di Savio is a tiny place with very few shops and restaurants: it is mainly a hotel area. If you are looking for a vacation with a sandy beach, quiet surroundings and have small children/babies/grandparents with you - then it is ideal. Other than that, there is very little to do there, apart from relaxing on the beach or by the pool. After a couple of days, unless you had a car or planned to cycle around, it will get a bit boring.

Milano Marittima, quite the opposite, is a busy/trendy spot with lots and lots of restaurants, caffes, shops, nightclubs and so on. Pricier too and one feels like one must dress up when going out for a pizza - Lido di Savio is far more casual from that point of view.

Having said that, I really felt at ease in Lido di Savio, as we had 5 kids with us, ranging from 13 to 8 months old, people are really friendly and the food in the hotel was very good!!

It's indeed an interesting place for family holidays. There is a similar place nearby Cesenatico which is called Villa Marina di Cesenatico. In case some one wants to go or is looking for a place to relax at the max with children!
