Traditionally we celebrate the evening of the 24th December with our family and dont go out and many restaurants are closed.

Later on this year normally a list of restaurants will be published which are open during Christmas.

I would suggest that if you intend to be in Vienna (or anywhere else in Austria) on Xmas eve that you find a Hotel with a restaurant and get a table booked or book early at one of the "listed" restaurants.

I wouldn't leave it too late/last minute as you may end oup with just the peanuts from the minibar.

You will not go hungry on Christmas Eve .While fewer places than normal times are open .

Enough places open - the Tourist office list has many offerings on the annual listing as mentioned above.

Christmas Day ( 25th - finds many more open- most probably no need to reserve then but for the 24th be sure to reserve.

Note -that many will have a fixed menu however.

Numerous cafes like Landtmann and Cafe Mozart are normally open throughout the Holiday and offer regular menu and offer a good alternative if you encounter any problems
