I really don't know why people bother at the moment - its around 1.07 or 1.08 from an ATM.

You would have to change over £10,000 to make an extra 100 euro so putting that in perspective changing £500 at 1.08 will get you an extra 5 euro

Just use an ATM that doesn't charge for withdrawals

You should get about 1.095 from an ATM at the moment, compared with maybe 1.07 from an exchange shop.

Make sure that you use an ATM that doesn't charge for withdrawals, that you use a card that doesn't charge for foreign transactions and pay it off on-line immediately that it appears on your card. Otherwise the difference will be eaten up in charges.

Yes indeed you do get 540 euro at 1.08 and if the rate is 1.07 you get 535 - hence an extra 5 euros.
