taxi, metro, or bus?????

We're arriving in Athens this week, wondering what would be the best way to the Athens Gate Hotel??

Is the metro under construction??

We would appreciate some input.......thanks.

The metro is good and running.

Depending on the time of day and if you don't have many luggage then bus or metro will be fine.

If you do have luggage, then bus or metro and a short taxi ride will be better.

the metro will be quickest,no athens traffic! cost for a one way ticket is 6 euros per person but i think if there are two of you,the ticket price is 10 euros.bus costs 3.20 euros.bear in mind that bus runs 24/7 but metro doesnt.last train from airport is around 11.30pm.if you take the metro, you require stop syntagma and the athens gate is a shortish downhill walk on amalias avenue.however,if you have a lot of luggage, you will find taxis in syntagma square.there is a good map on the hotels website.

Actually, for the Athens Gate Hotel, I'd take the metro all the way to Akropoli station - take the blue line to Syntagma, then change to the red line, alight at Akropoli. The hotel is really close, and the walk is partially along a pedestrian street, so easier to manage with luggage.

If you arrive during the night when the metro isn't running, then take the express bus to Syntagma and either walk 10-15 mins or take a taxi from Syntagma to the hotel.

If you don't tell us when you are arriving, we can't advise which is better.

Usually, outside the rush hour, the buses are faster.

Metro runs every 30 minutes, if you just miss it you need to wait for half an hour. Buses run every 10-15 minutes.

Metro takes 42 minutes to reach Syntagma, sometimes more. The bus will take 40-50 (outside the rush hour).

In general, if you are arriving early morning, late evening, night, late night, the bus will probably take you there faster and cheaper.
