Has anyone used "taxi-brugge.be"??

We are leaving Brugge tomorrow and are looking for someone to take us to Brussels. I know the train is way cheaper and super fast, but we have a lot of luggage and I'm tired of carrying it through train stations and getting them up and down from the trains.

I found this website taxi-brugge.be which shows a minivan with driver from our hotel here in Bruges (Heritage) to our hotel in Grand Place, Brugges for almost the same price than a car rental. Has anyone used this company or knows about it?

Thanks in advance!

As it's not on here, no TA user has reviewed it, at least under the name "taxi-brugge.be": https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g188…

I'd say it's more of a private transfer company than a taxi company, as it's not listed on https://www.brugge.be/taxi (note the similarity in URL: brugge.be is the official website of the City of Brugge and I would guess that the transfer company is hoping people will find one when looking for the other, or confuse one with the other which seems to make them "official"...).

It would worry me that they give no address and that they only accept contact by e-mail. While I assume they will give you a phone number for the driver once you have made a booking, that implies that a) they don't have, or want people to know, a fixed business address and b) you have no way of contacting them urgently if the driver doesn't turn up and doesn't answer the phone number they gave you.

However, even without their mentioning an address and phone number, it is clear that this is in fact the same company as LEUVEN taxi.be (https://leuven-taxi.be/en/) and AIRPORT taxis.be https://airport-taxis.be/ - if you scroll down to reviews on the taxi-brugge homepage, you will see that several of these refer to airport-taxis.be - none of which give an address or phone number.

Of course, that might just be common practice in the industry, but I don't think so, and there are certainly other companies that are not so reticent (e.g. http://www.airpotaxiservice.be/en/contact/ and http://martinstaxi.be/en/homepage-2/). In any case, I may be suspicious by nature, but I have to wonder why it is necessary for the same company to use at least 3 different names. Even if it is "only" trying to pass for a local company in Brugge and Leuven in addition to wherever "Airport Taxis" might be, that already indicates that it has no qualms about misleading people.

As with anything else in life, you have to decide for yourself - but then you would have to do so whatever anyone said here. Although that is precisely what Tripadvisor sells itself on, I find it hard to believe that people really put their trust in the (apparent) judgments of (apparent) people they don't know and whose experiences and opinions may be totally different from their own.

Thank you qaminari for such a detailed response!

I've decided to book the taxi with this company. I chose "pay later" just in case. I received an email from the company with a phone number for any problems or emergencies, together with my driver's name and cell phone number.

Of course I have a Plan B in case the driver never shows up.

I'll let you know how it went, thanks again!
