Unusual bars in amsterdam

Is there any bars different from the norm to visit? strange question I know but I hear there is a 'fridge bar' in Amsterdam where you have your own fridge and you take beers/drinks etc from it but I totally forgot the name? it's self service I guess and a room full of mini fridges?

Also Is there any bars wit ha good view across the city? tall buildings maybe?

the bar with the best view is probably at the okura hotel

There is an Ice Bar is indeed in town.

It is generally regarded as an over priced, somewhat dull, experience.

mmmm... where to start!

Bar 23 on the top floor of the Okura does indeed offer the best view with decent cocktales and the Xtra Cold Bar on the Amstel is a bit of a tourist trap, but can be fun if there is a group of you: http://www.xtracold.com/index.php?lang=en

For exclusivity, try a cocktail at Door 74: www.door74.nl ; have to call in advance to get in.

Then there is Bubbles & Wines ( http://www.bubblesandwines.com/uk/index.html ) on the Nes; try a flight of wines there or at Vyne on the Prinsengracht: www.vyne.nl

Beer drinkers should head for In de Wildeman ( http://www.indewildeman.nl/indexe.html ) and the Lellebel should be on every visitor's list: http://www.lellebel.nl/html/ . Alternatively check out the local gay scene at the Queen´s Head and many others. ;-)

What's the deal with this Door 74 bar? Is it only for the in-crowd?

Never heard of any kind of fridge bar. Perhaps the person writing that was tripping out in their hotel room whilst drinking the mini bar dry.

Quite unusual is Lab111 which is an old path lab and still has some of the equipment in there

iamsterdam.com/en/placestogo/lab-111/a269bc8…

Bars with a high view over Amsterdam are a bit limited mainly due to the lack of, well, high buildings. There is a Sky Bar at the top of the new Westcord Fashion Hotel http://www.skyybar.nl/#/home . It is a bit out of the centre thoughso not sure it is worth the tram trip.

I do know that in Prague there is a bar where each table has it's own beer tap. And on a big screen you can see the 'score' for you table. But I haven't heard of anything like this - or with fridges - in Amsterdam
