Thank you, that's really helpful.
Just to note that the parking near Porta Santa Maria (Viale Carlo Del Prete, Piazzale Martiri della Libertà) is more expensive than further around the ring road on Viale Regina Margherita eg. just outside the Porta San Pietro entrance to the city (near the train station) charges between 08.00 and 20.00 hrs are 20 cents for the first hour then 1 euro/hour thereafter with a maximum charge per day of 6 euros. Note that as you turn off Viale Regina Margherita the 20 or so parking spaces immediately in front of the Porta San Pietro entrance are 1 euro per hour not the 20 cents ones.
Thank you, that sounds perfect.
From the parking suggested in post No 5 (markets held Wed/Sat mornings) to the city you walk up Via Umberto Tinivella, cross the road at the zebra crossing on the ring road Viale Carlo del Prete, walk along the pathway across the grass to the passageway under the walls which leads to Piazza del Collegio and the church of San Frediano in Piazza San Frediano and into Via Fillungo.
That's great, we will avoid Wednesdays and Saturdays, thank you.
You're welcome, as well as the markets being held there it's also home to the croce rossa/red cross refugee reception centre.
