One month apartment rental in Lucca this winter

I am planning a trip to Lucca in mid November for one month. Has anyone had experience with the company 'Lucca In Holiday Rentals'?

Also, is it usual for the cost of heating to be included in the rental cost or is it typically charged as an extra? How much would I expect to pay for heating in a one bedroom apartment within the walls of Lucca?

The apartment (one bedroom) we rent each summer in Lucca through homeaway say that they charge 5 euros daily for heating costs in the winter.

Just looked up 'Lucca In Holiday Rentals' and see that it's run by Sonia who also advertises on the https://www.homeaway.co.uk website.

Note that the price of monthly rental should be 2.5 to 3 weeks weekly rental; this is especially true in winter. Heat as noted may well be extra.

Re: post No 3 we have never experienced a discount as sizeable as that even though we stay longer than a month at a time.

Three of us stayed in the “Gino Apartment” on Via S. Andrea, which was managed by a Sonia (don’t have papers anymore) for 2 weeks in May last year. It was a spacious place and very well located. I don’t remember heat as it was warm; there was a washing machine but no dryer (you use the clothing racks or head to a laundromat). It was through HomeAway....upon arrival, there were no pantry items, no advertised jetted tub or garbage disposal, only 1 roll of TP, not much light to read by, a small coffee maker (way too small for three) and we were unclear if there was washing machine detergent so bought that too. The apartment served us well; we just wished for a little more TLC.

Yes heating in winter is typically charged extra. Energy costs are very high in Italy.

We have rented from Sonia 4 times over the last 5 years and are booked again for late winter/early spring 2018. We believe Sonia has a very good selection of apartments at fair prices - some basic, some more luxurious - pricing reflects size, location & amenities. She offers winter rates (thru the end of March, excluding holidays) at a good discount from mid & high season rates. She also offers monthly rates which provide a discount from daily or weekly rates. Don't expect a fully stocked pantry, but there will be basic supplies to get you started. All the apartments she rents are self catering which means just that. There are many choices of rental apartments managed by various professional property managers and local owners in Lucca at a variety of price points and amenities, especially in the less touristy winter season. You should easily be able to find something that suits your desires and your budget. Hope you have a fantastic stay in Lucca. We love it!

Laura, back in September I came across an article about a company in Lucca making handbags you can personalise choosing from their range of colours and designs that may or not be of interest to you: https:/…borse-personalizzate.html

Apologies to the OP for going off topic!

Just to clarify...I certainly didn’t expect a stocked pantry but we found ourselves in a very bare kitchen and bath so had to drum up basics (that I thought would be there)....once that was done, all was good!
