Cinque Terre to Florence

Cinque Terre to Florence

After a two day in Monterossa, we were planning to take a train to Florence where we will stay for 5-6 days. We planned to spend 2-3 days in Florence and also take some day trips in Tuscany. Rather than a taking a trip back from Florence to Lucca and Pisa, we are now considering staying in Lucca one night and visiting Pisa as well. We could arrive in Lucca or Pisa early afternoon and leave for Florence the following late afternoon. Does this seem reasonable? Would one of the train rides be more scenic than the other: Lucca to Florence vs Pisa to Florence? Or are they very similar? Thank you for any comments, suggestions.

The AM train you would probably take to Florence from Monterosso is at 9:07 arriving at 10:32 with a change in Pisa [time to Pisa 1:17]. Lucca from Pisa is 30 minutes; Lucca to Florence 1:40. There is baggage storage at Pisa Centrale.

There are no direct trains from Lucca to Florence until September 2, when the August major works on the train line are complete. After that date, the line from Lucca to Florence is slightly more scenic that the one from Pisa.
