Places to stay in Sardinia, help!!!

hi everyone, i was hoping some of u can help me! my boyf and i are planning a week trip to sardinia in italy sometime in the summer but i have several Qs as i am not familiar with the area.

which is the best airport to travel too as i have seen lots of airlines go to different airports.

we were thinking of the first week of june, will the weather be nice then?

we want to stay in a nice hotel, not too expensive on a bed and breakfast basis, does anyone have any recommendations of where to stay with a good atmosphere in the evening in the neighbouring streets for our age (we are late 20s)

Many thanks for your help, i love forward to hearing back from you fellow holiday people! xx

kimberleycaldwell,

June is a great time to visit Sardinia as it will not be too crowded, yet it will be hot - so if you eventually choose to stay in a self catering or B & B establishment, then make sure that it has air conditioning.

As you are aware, there are three airports in Sardinia; Alghero in the northwest, Olbia in the northeast & Cagliari in the south.

Living in Bedfordshire, at first sight it might make sense to fly Easyjet from Luton to Cagliari, which is the capital city. Yes there is night life, but you will be located in an industrialised, port city and not within walking distance of any beaches.

Your next option - and in my personal opinion the best option, based on the time of year (some east coast resorts will only just be opening up for the summer), and your ages (need something reasonably lively in the evenings and beaches and/or options during the day) - is to fly from Stansted by Ryanair to Alghero.

Alghero has its own beaches, which are located in the town itself and within easy walking distance. See:

www.360sardinia.net/itineries.php…

The town also has a wealth of excellent restaurants, bars, caffes, shops and restaurants. Above all, there are options for things to do during the day.

TO learn more about Alghero and what there is here, take a look at the TripAdvisor Inside Pages about Alghero, which can be found at:

tripadvisor.com/Travel-g187880-s1/Alghero:Sa…

As for accommodation, these hotels are located right next to the sea (there are lots of others in back streets)and are listed in order of distance from the Old Town, where most of the evening activity is to be found (furthest first).

Hotels Alma, Alguer, Il Gabbiano, and El Balear do not have pools.

There is some excellent, lower cost B & B accommodation available in Alghero also.

If you need anything more, please come back.

Good Luck.
