Help choosing where to stay

Hi

Last minute booking to Sardinia as cheap flights available.

Our first time on the Island, we love Italy particularly Sicily and have had a wonderful Croatian Holiday this year so we do enjoy Island holidays

We fly into Alghero on 29th Sept - will stop 2 nights - then Bosa for 1 night - looking at driving over the North West coast for 2 nights and then maybe Castelsardo for 2 nights before flying home on the 6th Oct.

We particularly enjoy walking (although not hiking) old churches, small old towns, restaurants and drinking good wine, love a sea view but wouldn’t be too disappointed not to swim.

Realise it is the end of the season and concerned with basing ourselves in maybe Baia Sardinia or another small coastal town restaurants, bars or boat trips will be closed. Will that be the case ?? Should we go for Porto Cervo - not too enamoured of places like Porto Banus in Spain but would that be the better option ??

Any help would be great

Many thanks

Xx

With 7 nights a split Alghero and Cagliari might be nice. Cagliari is a University town which means it is busy also outside the season. Will you rent a car?

Thanks Dutchfemale, yes we will rent a car.

Will have a look at Cagliari, was also just about to look at basing ourselves in Olbia for 2 nights.

I would stay in the north, but not Olbia.

Plenty of better places, and you could try staying inland for a night at an agriturismo.

For boat trips etc., Santa Teresa or Palau.

Olbia itself is not a very nice place. Nothing wrong with it but just not interesting or attractive.
