40th Birthday

Hi there,

We will be staying in the Alghero area in a few weeks time and I'm looking at taking my husband out for a nice meal as a treat.

I'd welcome any suggestions, although please keep in mind that we do not eat seafood so a seafood restaurant inst out idea of a great night out. We aren't into the pretentious fine dining places, but somewhere a bit nicer than normal as a treat would be great.

We will have a car so we are able to drive, although ideally we wont need to travel too far!

Thanks in advance.

We really liked this restaurant: http://www.angedrasrestaurant.it/en/kitchen and its location.

While they have a lot of seafood dishes they also serve meat dishes. The menu option on their website does not work properly, but maybe you can send them an email to ask for the menu?

thank you - i have e-mailed them to see. looking at facebook it seems very seafood orientated, but hopefully their full menu gives us some options.

Absolutely Paco. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Rev…

They do seafood of course but also a whole range of other Sardinian and Mediterranean dishes. If you pop by or message ahead of time to reserve (which you should if you want a table on the terrace) and tell them it's a special meal and you're not too keen on seafood, you will be well taken care of. Guy, the owner speaks excellent English. You can also message them through their Facebook page.

Another option to try (although not perhaps as a special meal) is La Saletta. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Rev… Website in Italian only (menus in English): https://www.trattorialasaletta.com/

Traditional Sard food (no fish as historically Sardinians have lived inland so lamb, pork, boar, donkey etc. are the staples of true Sard traditional food. As I say, on try try for the experience of real Sard food rather than a special occasion.
