It might be useful to start with the phone directory, White Pages, Pagine Bianche.

No, it's not really difficult at all.

I did the search for you.

Try calling with skype,

See if you can get some help from the Dante Alighiere Society in Canberra. Nice people. I should know, almost 50 years ago I was Vice President *****. :-) . Be nice, see if you can do a language class between now and April. It will help a lot. And meanwhile make a friend to help with the skyping

Bear in mind that Vicenza is a large province

those search results at link above are for the city of Vicenza. If you have a town or village name, that would help.

If and when you are there you could go to the local government office [Comune] but you can make a start by trying to find where precisely the family came from. And starting with the Pagine Bianche is much easier from Canberra.

Oh I HAVE BEEN WORKING THIS FAMILY FOR 20 YEARS. One is in Austin Texas, an imminent lawyer and works with interest for the Democrats, which to my mind makes him a good person. My post here was an act of desperation. We began our search finding our gg grandfather changed his name...got him and the family in Italy, and that is where it stopped. Have worked back and forwards to find leads but all ends with brick walls. still trying. It is my second trip to Italy and this time have free time to search out things...well we thought we could be will see. Will be in Italy in April 2019 so plenty of time to g=keep on plundering the avenues.
