January in San Giulio on Lake d' Orta

Any advise on if it's a good idea to spend a day trip from Turino in January to San Giulio on Lake d' Orta? Concerned about weather and there will be anything open to visit in the off season.

You’d need to go on a weekend day, the ferry to the island will operate and some restaurants will be open.

This is the ferry timetable:

Impossible to predict the weather, but you do get some lovely crisp sunny days, so hopefully you’ll be lucky.

With good weather you can take a leisurely stroll around the cobbled streets, take in the views of the lake, have a nice lunch and also see the Sacro Monte (a series of painted chapels on the hill behind the town).

How are you planning to get there? Easiest if you have a car, otherwise you need to get the train to Novara and from there to Orta Miasino.

Note that it’s a bit of a walk from the station to the town centre, about 30 mins). In the summer there’s a shuttle service, but not in January.
