Travelling from Pisa to Rapallo

Our holiday this year is taking us to Rapallo. Using Citalia they are flying us into Pisa, so we are having to sort our own transfer to hotel in Rapallo.

Has anyone had to tackle a similar problem?

Tried the hotel courtesy taxi option, way too expensive at 300 Euro (one way), so am looking at the train links which looks right for us.

Wondered if there might be other options available?

We arrived in Pisa on 23.6.2012 (just in case)

Train from Pisa to Rapallo should be easy. You can taxi or bus from PSA to the RR station as the airport is close to town. In Rapallo think about riding the funivia to Montallegro, or following one of our walks, apathtolunch.com/2011/05/portofino-hike-camo…

There are no other public transport options available.

There is a railway station at Pisa Airport - called Pisa Aeroporto on the link given in reply 1, or Pisa Airport on http://www.trenitalia.com/homepage_en.html - but you always have to change trains at Pisa Centrale. Times are currently online only until June 9, but will be similar after. There are also buses and taxis to Centrale.

Because your plane might be delayed, it is a risk to buy train tickets through to Rapallo in advance. Most connections from Pisa Centrale to Rapallo include a train with reserved seats, so if you miss your booked train your ticket is worthless (with a reduced price Mini ticket) or you have only one hour to change it (with a standard Base ticket).

The station at Pisa Airport has no booking office and the ticket machine only sells tickets for the Regional trains without reserved seats. For other tickets go to the SAT ticket office inside the check-in hall, which will charge a one or two euro commission for fares over €5. Or buy a €1.40 ticket to Pisa Centrale and purchase there from the booking office or a multilingual ticket machine.

Thank you for this kind detail..Superb. I did not appreciate the fact that tickets have seat reservation associated with each purchase. You have also answered the question about train times in that is is unlikely that there are more trains on offer during the summer periods. Take care
