Is it possible to get public transport from Barcelona airport to Tossa de Mar without having to go through Barcelona city?

No, the buses to Tossa de Mar leave from Estacio Nord, i.e. from the center of Barcelona.

Hi,

You can get the train from the airport to Barcelona Sants (R2), then change to the train to Blanes (R1) then get a bus to Tossa from there

Hola BOXtheFOX!

Quickest way to estacion del nord bus station- taxi from airport, around 40mins and €30 ish depending on time of day, luggage, number in your party.

Cheapest way is airport bus €5.05 approx 35mins arriving at plaça de catalunya, take the metro red line 1 direction Fondo 2 stops to Arc de Triomf metro station, bus station is across road straight in front of you, tickets from building on right as you get through the huge iron gates. Metro €1.40 each single or if theres a few of you and you are returning this route, a T-10 ticket for just under €9 gives any number of users 10 trips. ie if 4 of you, you all use it there and back. One thing to note is there is no escaltor or lift at arc de triomf, only concrete stairs to street level, so learn some choice sweary words in Catalan to use under your breath as you clank your way up.

Slightly cheaper still way, when you exit airport bus, with el corte ingles in front of you, turn right (theres a taxi rank straight ahead if you crack) the turn left into carrer de fontanella, past the square with metro station Urquinaona, follow ronda de sant pere 2 blocks into carrer de ali-bei and abracadabra estacio del nord is 4 blocks. Maybe about 10-15mins walk. (or a cheap taxi ride for up to 4)

There is a foodhall in the basement of el corte ingles should you want drinks or scooby snacks or fruit for your onward journey. Am sure good old google can provide you with a street plan to follow this route walking.

www.barcelonanord.com for bus station info, www.mobilitat.net for how to get A to B in catalunya by bus car or train, maybe theres a train so www.tmb.net for city transport and www.renfe.es for train services. And should there be a delay from arriving in town to leaving on the bus, theres luggage lockers at the bus station and also near plaça de catalunya, check a recent post on the forum for full info. Like who could resist a 10mins walk up passeig de gracia to peek at gaudi's architecture, or 10mins down the Rambles to buy some fruit in Boqueria Market!

Bon viatge!

Chris

Thanks folks. Seems like a lot of hard work. Ryanair might be dropping the Dublin to Girona route which will be a pity.

Thanks again.
