High Speed Train Toledo to Madrid--When to Book?

We would like our schedule to be flexible and it seems there are high speed trains that depart about every 30 minutes? Is there any reason to book in advance or pick up tickets at the station? On a Friday in November would availability for two people be an issue? Are there different class seats or does it really matter for such a short journey?

I doubt there would be an issue getting seats I prefer to book in advance so that I don't have to queue for tickets at the station.

It's a short journey & tourista class is very comfortable.

The trains dont run that frequently but journey time is 30minutes. Toledo station is not that busy normally and you could buy your tickets by arriving a little earlier, nearer the time take a look at the schedule and you may see an optimum time if train you think you need.

I am assuming that you are going from Toledo to Madrid as the heading indicates.

I would book ahead.

Be aware that if you want to buy the tickets at the station, the queue may be longer than an hour.

The Madrid-Toledo train is always busy because this is a heavily travelled commuter run in both directions.

Benny, Thank you for your advice. As I look at booking our tickets from Toledo to Madrid on different booking sites, Renfe's schedule shows several trains with departures at 10:25, 12:25 and 13:25 that do not appear on the other more user friendly booking sites. They offer 9:25 am and then the next one is at 15:25 pm. We will be traveling on Friday, Nov 9th. Does this make sense to you and other posters?

The AVANT train service between Madrid and Toledo for your date is showing on RENFE and a great web site

Loco2

http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html

https://loco2.com/

You don't need to book and pay for this service too early. Wait until nearer your date.

No idea what booking sites you are using but RENFE is the best after all it's Spanish Railways.

Cadiz_lover, Thank you, however the Loco2 website does not show the 3 times mentioned in my post, unless I am in the wrong website?

Renfe may release full schedule details to Loco2 around 8 weeks before. They will eventually catch up. The times will be as published on RENFE. The winter times on vast number of trains are not yet published for example you cannot reserve any train from Madrid to Seville after mid-September.
