Munich--Mittenwald Train Ticket

Hi all,

I just booked a round trip ticket from Munich to Mittenwald in Trainline.eu.

I realized after I booked it that I booked it under my first nickname and not my first full name (my nickname is easily recognizable in comparison to full). My passport has my full name. Is this going to be an issue when I show my ID? How strict are they? The ticket is unfortunately non refundable so to change the name would mean paying double for that ticket.

Thanks in advance.

You could have bought the tickets on spot from the ticket machines. Buying in advance makes for connections by regional trains no sense.

Mostly the ID won't be checked at all. And I assume that your last name is at least the correct one. This shall work. But in the end this is a decision of the conductor.

Thank you. Yes, the last name is fine. Hopefully it will be ok.

The trains don't have a passenger list, so nobody is interested in your name - when you buy a ticket at the station before travel, as 99% of people do for the trips like yours, nobody asks for your name or ID.

Liz,

If you plan to do any travel by train, you should look at

www.seat61.com

for information on travel in many countries world wide.

As has been said above, buying tickets for regional trains is unnecessary, and through an agent probably costs more.

Regional tickets are available from E22, giving a full day travel, not just one return.

www.bahn.com will show times, routes and fares.
