Sandfly Leichsmania in South of France

We are bringing our pet dog to South of france in September 1st 2 week, a little worried about the sandfly Leichsmania, is this a real danger and what precautions are best for a 2 week holiday thanks you

I assume the sandfly inhabits beaches. As dogs are banned at most beaches here up to September 30th infection would be very unlikely.

Sandflies do not live on beaches.

They are sandy coloured, which gives them their name.

It's best not to assume anything, where serious disease is concerned.

Ask your Vet, OP and get proper advice.
