La Pallice cruise port

Is there still a shuttle bus from the cruise terminal in La Pallice to La Rochelle? The last posting on this topic was four years ago, and we would love this info, since we will be in La Rochelle in September, 2018.

I've checked a couple of websites dated April this year and they both say that a bus was available into the city centre, which is about 4 miles. It is not permitted to walk out of or into the port area, even if you wanted to among the thundering herds of trucks.

The Cruise companies will push their own expensive excursions of course.

The World War 2 submarine base can be seen from afar but is now out of bounds owing to it's rather poor state. Time has done what Allied bombers could not do around 75 years ago.

Thank you for the info--we were hoping not to have to take a cruise ship tour, but it seems that we might have to! It is good to know that we can at least have a glance at the WW 2 pens, even from a distance it will be interesting.
