traveling from Bruges to Vernon

Is it faster to travel from Bruges by train to Lille, renting a car there and driving to Vernon or Traveling by train to Paris, renting car there and driving to Vernon? On the map it looks like lille to Vernon a little further. From Vernon we are heading to Normandy area before moving to the Dordogne region.

Thanks, Kathy

Hi, if it is trip time that concerns you the high speed Thalys train will out do any pace a car can do. It is about a hour from Bruges (Brugge) to Brussels by IC then about an hour and a half to Paris on the Thalys.

There are frequent trains from Paris to Vernon as well, but this would require a transit across Paris as they do not leave from the station at which the Brussels train arrives.

I am not sure about speed, but it would be much more convenient to pick up the car at Lille. You would have only one change of transport, from a train to the car.

With the route suggested in reply #1, you would take an Intercity train to Brussels and change to a fast train to Paris Gare du Nord. Driving out of Paris from Gare du Nord would take considerably longer than driving out of Lille.

It might not be faster, but I would pick up the car in Lille and drive across country. Vernon, by the way is in Normandy. For route planning you should see www.viamichelin.com
