Foire Nationale a la brocante et aux jambons - ile de chatou

For several years, we have thought of going to this antique outing. This year the fall outing is from 24 September-4 October.

Could someone please give us specific instructions how to get there? We are staying near St Sulpice. It's our understanding we should take the RER A1......but we need specific instructions from that point.

Thank you.

The RER A goes right there. Get off at Chatou. You will even see the island from the train.

I've been there twice -- check their website if you read French: chatou.sncao-syndicat.com. You can also get off at the station, Rueil-Malmaison and walk west on the bridge over the Seine (max 10 mins.). There is also a free shuttle to the fair. For lunch check out the roast suckling pig or ham dishes in the area at the back.

If you have time, the Ile de Chatou is worthwile for a stroll, for a boat ride to Bougival on the weekends, or a meal at Maison Fournaise if you'd prefer something more fancy than eating at the fair.
