advice required on budget friendly holiday to france

Hi

Need some help/advice. We were thinking of holidaying in france next summer with my girls aged 1 and 5. We have only ever been to Disneyland paris so have no clue where is best for our summer break.

We thought ferry and car would be fun but don't really want that far to travel with the kiddies in the car after crossing.

All suggestions welcome!!

Have a look at the websites for Keycamp, Siblu and other such camping orgainsations.

If you take the ferry, where from? And where to??

Hi there

A book that may help is - DK Backroads France - it helped us greatly this year. There are over 20 drives of things to see and do.

For asun/water holiday maybe Royan/Biarritiz or the Cote d'Azure.

Kind Regards

Merran

I'd recommend Brittany or the Vendée for a bucket and spade-type holiday. We used to take our boys when they were young, and had a marvellous time. As mentioned above, there are several companies who do ready-erected tents and mobile homes for rent. Their brochures generally have useful info. Look at some of them and select places you think you woulkd like then perhapsome back to ask questions about particular places.

We used to choose quieter sites in the main summer period, as some can be quite lively with discos etc. You still get the pools, shop etc, but in a calmer atmosphere.

If you can go earlier, you'll find much cheaper prices, although if you want to go too early, some of the facilities might not be fully open.

There is excellent advice here from some previous posters. I would add CentreParcs France to the list of places to consider - they have several places within easy reach of various Channel Ports or the Tunnel. See:
