We will be visiting York and the Yorkshire Dales (two nights in York followed by two nights in Bolton Abbey, Skipton) at the end of July. I would appreciate any itinerary suggestions or recommendations for not-to-be missed locations. We have two adults and three children (ages 13, 11, 8) in our family and we will have a car. We enjoy sightseeing of all kinds: castles, hikes, beautiful scenery - outdoor and indoor adventures. We would prefer to avoid theme parks but I have heard the Forbidden Corner may be worth a visit? What about Hawes? Castle Howard?
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.
