I will be in Watford in a few weeks for work and will be flying into Stanstead airport. What's the best way to travel to Watford from Stanstead?
You could look at the National Express Coach (Route 737) from Stansted to Hemel Hempstead which is only 7 minutes from Watford junction by train. The coach isn't very frequent and takes nearly 2 hours. The change in Hemel Hempstead then requires another bus ride as the station is on the edge of town. or there are local buses which go from Hemel to Watford but take a lot longer than the train. Unless the timings work out for you, you're probably better off going via London.Edited: 02 July 2017, 18:21
Where in Watford are you headed? The 724 is an Express service (although you wouldn't think so on a Monday morning!) but it does stop at a few places around the town and is probably your best option if you do fly into Heathrow. Luton would also be a possibility and certainly better than Stansted although you would need to change buses in St Albans.
The Greenline service mentioned above stops on a roundabout, near Harlow Town station which is a short journey up to Stansted. There's three or four trains an hour. Also if you have luggage, follows the signs for the lift, you need a different ticket barrier on the right hand side of the stairs due to the station set up.
That's the best, there is a bus every 10 minutes from the bus station, but goes through the countryside and would take a little longer I think than the train.
