I do not get sea sick but I almost have panic attacks and worry for weeks before my sailing. If the sea is calm I am ok, if not it's total panic for me. Is there a cure for this please? Angela
Go and see your doctor, She may have some ideas.
Could you fly over?
Edited: 6 years agoSee your doctor. If you're worrying that much you need to talk to the professionals.
If you are that worried, why don't you fly? I use the ferry because it suits (and now I take dogs) and fortunately I like the ferry these days.
But I agree, see your doctor.
There's no need to sail when you can fly, assuming that you are comfortable with flying. My grandfather was the opposite. He worked away in England for 40 years and always took the ferry back and forth to Ireland for visits because he was terrified of flying. No need to put yourself in a position that is uncomfortable when there is another option. It worked well for him even if the journey was way longer. In your case the journey would be shorter if you flew.
Not sure if your panic is limited only to sailing or if it is more widespread, but I do agree with the others that you should see a doctor.
Whiskey works for me.
Hi Angela
There's no need to put yourself through that - as already suggested you should fly.
Would also agree that you should talk to a doctor and perhaps consider a CBT therapist if necessary.
There are people who take the ferries because they dislike flying so much, Angela. I don't see why you don't do the opposite? Or are you unfortunate enough to hate flying as well?
Thank you all for your replies.
Very useful.
Kind regards
If whom you are going with are taking the ferry fly over yourself on I'm your own and just meet up someplace after they took the ferry
That's a very good suggestion, Tarry. I suppose a lot depends on why the ferry was chosen in the first place. The journey might not be that convenient by air, as in all the times I've gone form Swansea to Waterford or Wexford by sea...
