Flights from US to Killarney

Are there direct flights to Killarney or do you have to fly to Dublin first? Would like to visit both places but it seems like everything leads to Dublin first.

You can fly from the U.S. to Shannon which is under two hours from Killarney by car.

There are no direct flights to Kerry airport.

We only have flights to Dublin, London and Frankfurt Hahn.

If you can add a flight to Kerry from Dublin then do so.

Kerry international airport is a dream. Think of it as a pub with a runway and you have the size of it.

You can get to Cork or Kerry via London.

Fly to Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted to travel on to Cork.

To Stansted or Luton to connect to Kerry.

DublinCoach run a bus every 2 hours from Dublin airport to Killarney direct, and return, which takes about 4 hours and costs €20

Nearest airport is Kerry Airport about 20 mins outside Killarney. There are no direct US flights, but you can connect in Dublin to get there.

Next nearest is Cork Airport, which is 75 mins away. There are direct flights to Providence. Otherwise there are plenty of connections through Heathrow, Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid and Zurich.

Shannon is about 2 hours away and has a range of US flights in the summer.

Amazingly for a major tourist destination, Killarney has no bus connection to any of Cork Airport, Shannon Airport or Dublin Airport, so if you aren’t hiring a car, it’s an awkward journey of changing buses and/or trains. In that case the connecting flight to Kerry Airport is definitely worth considering.

No

You have to change at Red Cow Luas on that service.

Changing at Red Cow Luas is not any hassle. Off one bus, onto another.

The Cork route is hassle free too. Cork-Killarney includes a change at Parnell place bus station for free.

You can fly from multiple US airports to Dublin, there are even direct flights. If you want to see both Dublin and Killarney you can then fly from Dublin to Kerry Airport, there are 1-2 flights per day of under an hour duration. It will not be a problem to sort transport from Kerry Airport to Killarney which is approx 15 mins away, your hotel could arrange this for you if necessary. Other option as mentioned is to fly into Shannon which is under 2 hours from Killarney, however if you wish to visit Dublin then flying into or out of there is probably your best bet. Renting a car in Ireland is perhaps the easiest way to get around.

PS If you have time I would also highly recommend visiting Dingle which is approx 1 hour drive from Killarney!
