Dublin to Sligo

We will be traveling from Dublin to Sligo and are looking for a must see along the way. We are open to anything from a historic site, to a hike or a really neat little town. Thanks for the help

* Carrick-on-Shannon: have lunch at The Oarsman on Bridge St

* Lough Key Forest Park: hire a rowing boat, have a picnic by the lake, stretch your legs on the forest trails.

Second the Oarsman.

If you like a house tour, the King House in Boyle town is a good one.

For a hike, explore the megalithic graves at Carrowkeel. Spectacular short hike, just off the road at Castlebaldwin, but you may need the Ordnance Survey map no 25 to help find them. (Look at carrowkeel.com)
