First European trip

Hi there this is my first trip to europe, we are going for approx 6 weeks and visiting 10 countires - Ireland being one of them. Planning to stay in Dublin for 4 days and maybe hire a car to explore a little more or ireland, Just really wanting to know what the best central location to stay is so we are close to transport and attractions/shops/culture etc. Any advice would be great. thank you

10 countries in six weeks?

You won't see muchof Ireland in four days taking account of your arrival and departure days. Where do you plan to fly to?

You might be as well to base yourself in Dublin and take a couple of side trips. If that is the case, there is no need to hire a car. Having a car in the city is a real disadvantage

yes we understand it will be a little rushed, thats why I am trying to research our places of interest as much as possible...to make the most out of our time and work out the quickest and most cost effective ways to travel between. yes we did expect to base ourselves in dublin then thought about either hiring a car or ?public transport for day tours out towards Limerick? I dont know a great deal about Ireland so i think just seeing dublin and a bit of the country side will satisfy us :)

Yes, best not to hire a car in Dublin if you will be staying every night in Dublin. Instead, go with one of the tour operators for a day tour from the city. A google search for "day tours Dublin" will give you lots of options.

It sounds just like a great adventure! If you have just 4 days to spend in Ireland, probably the best plan could be to use Dublin as a base and take a couple of day-tours from the city: we truly recommend to visit County Wicklow (called also "the Garden of Ireland") and Belfast & Antrim coast where the new Titanic Experience and the Giant's Causeway are waiting for you... Happy planning! ;)

The best way to see the most of any county is to fly into one airport and out through another. that way you get to see contrasting aspects. in the case of Ireland Then Dublin and Shannon would give two total contrasts in scenery and even people.
