stuck between Waterford and Dublin

Hello!

I am stuck on my trip planning between Waterford and Dublin. We are checking out of Waterford on March 20 and would like to head back to Dublin via a day of walking/hiking around Glendalough and the Wicklow mountains. Then head to Dublin to on March 21.

Would it be best to stay in the city of Wicklow? Or another area? Would love to stay on the coast if we can but also realize the need to be realistic about travel times.

We must return the rental car in Dublin by mid-afternoon on 3/21. We will be in Dublin 3/21-24 and don't want to pay for the extra days since we won't need the car in the city.

Thanks so much for the insight.

If you go walking in Glendalough, there are one or two small local hotels which would be convenient. These include the Glendalough Hotel and Lynams in Laragh. However, be aware that these are small local hotels with limited facilities but may be OK for an overnight stay.

Wicklow is a relatively small town with limited choice of hotels - Tinakilly House just outside the town is a nice location. Nearby Hunters Hotel is small, very old fashioned and quirky. You could also check out Glen of the Downs Hotel which is a little closer to Dublin but easy to access off the N11 (main route heading north from Wicklow to Dublin).

All these hotels are convenient to Glendalough - about 20-30 minutes drive.

Also have a look at www.tulfarrishotel.com that might suit your needs.
