Itinerary help please :)

Hi all looking for some advice on the following:

We are flying into cork from newquay (arriving 1pm) and hiring a car on the 1st of September and flying out of Dublin on the 5th at 620pm.

Roughly I was thinking of driving to Killarney on the 1st (stopping to see the blarney stone) for the night then heading up the west coast through dingle to Galway, looking around and driving into Dublin in the afternoon of the fourth.

Or would we be better off skipping The dingle peninsular and doing the ring of Kerry on the 2nd heading up to Galway on the third then across to Dublin on the 4th?

Thanks :)

As a followup, rather than going into Galway would we better off staying the night of the third in Doolin the heading to Dublin on the fourth?

Also, is there much to see in Cork? We weren't intending to spend any time there it just seems like another city

You can't go "through "Dingle on the way up the west coast, it's a pennisula, so a bit out . If your time is short, I'd do Dingle rather than the Ring of Kerry, which is a long, long drive and really needs at least a very early start and long finish to do it justice.

I love Cork, lots to see and do.

West Cork is fab as Harvey says, lots to see & do.You would need a day & night on the Dingle Peninsula to do it justice www.dodingle.com & www.dingle-peninsula.ie

The route planner on www.aaroadwatch.ie will give you APPROX distances & times for your journey & help with the planning.

The Beara Peninsula is pretty spectacular & less travelled than the Dingle Peninsula.

Bryno is the one to give you the low down on things to do & see in Cork.

You can drive to Dingle from Killarney round Slea Head and back to Dingle then take the Connor Pass to leave the Peninsular on your way to cross the Shannon. How you get from the Shannon to Galway is up to you, either from the Tunnel and up the M/N18 in just over an hour or from the Ferry and up the coast road in about 3 1/2 hours.
