Ireland Itinerary

Does this look reasonable?

Day 1: Arrive about 2pm, get car, lunch, check in and rest

Day 2: Dublin (9am) to Glendalough (10:30-12:30), lunch, Drive to Cashel and spend the night

Day 3: Cashel Castle (9-11am), Waterford tour and lunch 12:30-3:30, Drive to Blarney and spend the night

Day 4: Blarney (9am-11am), Cork and lunch (12-3), Cobh and spend the night

Day 5: Cobh to Killarney to do jaunting tour 10-4 and spend the night

Day 6: Killarney to Bunratty to do the castle banquet and spend the night

Day 7: Bunratty to Dublin (where we will spend the remaining nights)

Blarney to Cobh is backtracking a bit. Stay in Cobh then on to Blarney and from there to Killarney.

Days 3 and 4 are very busy.

I agree about staying in Cobh rather than Blarney

I also think staying in Waterford and visiting there first and Cashel afterwards may work better. With such a busy agenda that keeps you on better, faster roads than trying to go from Wicklow to Cashel cross country.

Day 1 - as you are collecting your car you could head straight for Wicklow. It's an easy mainly motorway drive from the airport. If you chose to stay in Dublin City centre that night (Day 1) you may be better collecting your car on Day2 before you set off on your driving adventure.

7. Re: Ireland Itinerary

Okay I think this looks a little better. I have one more day that I can add in somewhere on the itinerary...any ideas?

Day 1: Land at 2:05 (we will just stay in Dublin due to a long flight/time change)

Day 2: Dublin (leave by 9am) to Glendalough (10:30-12:30) and lunch 12:30-1:30, drive to Cashel and stay the night (we want to stay in Cashel so that we can do the Cashel Castle first thing the next morning)

Day 3: Cashel Castle (9-11am), Waterford/lunch (12:30-3:30), drive to Cobh

Day 4: Cobh to Cork/lunch (9-12), drive to Blarney to do the castle(12:30-3:30), Drive to Killarney

Day 5: All day in Killarney to do the jaunting tour

Day 6: Killarney to Limerick and then Bunratty for the banquet-stay in Limerick or Bunratty?

Day 7: Bunratty to Dublin (where we will spend our remaining days)

Any suggestions on the itinerary and where to add in the extra day? Hotels? Places to eat? We will be traveling with two kids (17 and 9 who travel well).

you could add an extra day to any of your choices as you have a great deal of time in the rental car....with 2 children along it sounds grueling but you know them better than any of us do....also, some advice, don't micro manage your time at locations or you'll no doubt get frustrated when it takes longer than expected.....many will tell you, in Ireland less is more....
