coastal route from Newry to Belfast

We are two seniors who will be traveling by car from Newry to Belfast. Rather than take the main roads direct, we are thinking of driving the coastal route (ex., via Rostrevor, Newcastle, Portaferry, etc.). How much longer would this typically take and is it worth the extra time?

Also, if we do the Ards Peninsula, which route would you take?

Via the Mourne coastal route would add around 2.5 hrs to the normal 45 mins journey time. Is worth it ? if you like coastal scenery yes.

If it was me i would go over the Mourne's via Newry,Mayobridge Hilltown B27, Head rd, Annalong, Newcastle,Dundrum, Downpatrick, Visit St Patricks grave, Strangford ,(cross on Ferry) Portaferry , Greayabby, Mount Stewart House, Newtownards Belfast, with stops i would allow around 6-7 hrs
