Parking for 4 days & nightlife for mid 30s couple

Hi

My husband and i have a trip to Bath soon. We are staying at the rooms above loch fyne, but understand parking is an issue. Any advice on parking or if its worth leaving our car at park n ride for the few days?

Also some recommendations on nightlife would be great, we dont mind a bit of cheesy music or live music pubs/bars but hardcore nightclubby type things not so much.

Many thanks

From the local council site, bathnes.gov.uk/services/parking-and-travel/p…

“Can I leave my car at one of the Park & Ride sites overnight?

We do not recommend that you leave your vehicle overnight at any of the Park & Ride sites. The sites are not patrolled at night, and you leave your vehicle there at entirely your own risk. Return /group bus tickets are only valid on the day of purchase so an extra ticket may be required if you return to your vehicle on a different day.”

Had you thought about leaving the car at home and taking the train?

Regrettably cannot. Dropping our kids at the inlaws and we live 3 hours drive away

You have 3 options - South Gate underground car park opposite the bus/railway station.

Or the council run Manvers Street and Avon Street car parks.

All 3 are a 10 minute walk from where you are staying.

Charlotte Street car park next to Royal Victoria park or the Cattle Market car park on Walcot Street are closer, but they are both open air and probably less secure.

Plenty of nightlife around there, though it is 40 years since I ventured into those places so I have no idea if they are cheesy or not.

The Bell on Walcot Street has live music most nights. Usually jazz, folk, acoustic etc. It's around the corner from where you are staying and worth checking out.

Or there's Moles Club which is literally a 2 minute walk from where you are staying. They have live music and club nights.

And you might find something at Komedia on Westgate Street.

You could also try the Pig & Fiddle and Flan O'Briens for live music.

If you are Kent, have you looked at seeing if you can get there by train. I think you may be able to do it avoiding London

If you can get to Bristol or Gloucester easily you can change to a service for Bath. You can also do this at Salisbury etc. That’s on trains from London Waterloo if that helps.
