Good evening.
I will land at Norwich airport late on the 30 th of April and would like to know if shops are open on the 1st of May,it is a national holiday here in Denmark.
Thanks in advance.
Torben
It's not a national holiday here unless it falls on a Monday. The first Monday of May is a bank holiday but generally most shops will be open.
May day in Britain is May4th and all the shops will be open on both dates.
Thank you.
Most (larger) shops are open every day of the year except 25 December and 1 January.

Large shops (over 3000 square feet) are also closed on Easter Sunday.
The "larger" shops do not have to close on January 1st although many supermarkets choose to do so for some stores. For example our nearest Tesco supermarket was closed this year on Jan 1st but the larger one, six mile away, was open. Not that I would want to go shopping that day! Many clothes and electrical stores open on this day.

I don't know what time you arrive, but as 30th April is on a Thursday in 2015, many city centre stores will be open until 9pm. Thursday is late night opening in Norwich.
Thanks gorby, but i will arrive at 21.05 so i will just get a cab and drive the 4 miles to my hotel, drop of my bag and find a nice pub for a pint before going to bed.
Hi, the Bank Holiday in the UK is on Monday 4th May. All the shops etc will be open on Friday 1st May and the weekend too. Some of the independent shops and cafes in Norwich may well be closed on Monday 4th but there will be lots going on in the City!
