Custom House, Docklands question

I found a room at the Custom House hotel, in the Docklands area for $71. Canadian. It seems to get good reviews. For this low price is it worth it? Is the location reasonable enough to go to the center of London to see area attractions and wander around? Or is it too far out to be practical?

There is pretty much bugger / over / all except the hotel and the DLR station, hence the low rate. If you had a conference at the ExCel Centre that would be one thing, but otherwise it's rather like staying in 905 to visit 416.

Even though there are buses plus DLR to get to and from the city centre, you'd spend an inordinate amount of time travelling, unless most of what you wanted to see was east of the junction of White Horse Road and Commercial Road (and it probably isn't).

Have a look at the Holiday Inn Express at Limehouse, speaking of Commercial Road. It's a very short walk from Limehouse station and with three buses along Commercial Road it's much more accessible than Custom House and has much more in the neighbourhood to offer. Rates may be reasonable as well.
