Suggestions please for accomm in Liverpool in July

My wife and I are visiting Liverpool for a week in July

We would like to find a studio or one-bedroom holiday apartment somewhere near or in the city centre

we are a mature aged couple in our 50s looking for something quiet, yet central and reasonably upmarket.

The best option so far seems to be the "Day Tripper Beatles Themed Apartment in Liverpool" which I found on this site. Seems very nice, very helpful owner Jacqui.

My concern is noise and safety being on the 2nd floor of a mid-city apartment building

(We've never been to Liverpool so no idea what it's like)

The others which I've looked at but which get only mediocre reviews are:

Bridgestreet at Liverpool One and

Crowne Plaza

the CP is a hotel not a serviced apartment so that wouldn't be our first choice.

Any suggestions? Or should we go for the Day Tripper?

Thanks

Stick with Day Tripper on Exchange Street then.

If you are happy with the owner and the deal you got then that's more important than starting to mess around with other apartments.

And yes, the location is excellant on Exchange Street. Around the corner on Tithebarn Street is the old Exchange Station.

You see, you are going to be surrounded in not only history, but a great all-round fun city in Liverpool !

Have fun ! ;-)

Hi all,

just letting you know that we finally settled on the "Day Tripper"!

There were many other good recommendations such as Pilgrim St, Signature and Staybridge but in the end I reckon DT was best in terms of price and convenience

see yous all in Liverpool in July!!

Thanks guys,

Elbabat, thanks for the suggestion but we've already booked the Day Tripper!

Next city is Manchester, the last stop on our "Northern Tour". So we will be looking for accomm there too for the last week of July

The "Stay Deansgate Apartments" caught my eye. Does anyone know it? If so do you think it would be suitable for us? i.e. quiet, central and reasonably upmarket

(or should we put a separate post on the Manchester forum?)

Manchester city centre is a lot more spread out than Liverpool.

I was there on Monday night and I only scraped the surface around the Chinatown, Portland Street and Oxford Road area before going to a gig at the Academy.

You will be doing a lot more walking in Manchester; although you might find the Metrolink trams useful to get around on, especially if you stay out at Deansgate.

So yes, follow johnsayers advice above and post on the Manchester forum. ;-)

Thanks guys, will do

mmmm... Matt "out at Deansgate"? Doesn't sound too encouraging but we'll see what the punters on the Man forum have to say!

Whilst Manchester city centre is bigger than Liverpool, it is all still very much walkable. Manchester also have free shuttle buses running around the centre, see following link for details.
