Does anyone know for sure if the old railway line walk to Threlkeld is open again heard rumours suggesting it is.
They put a path in through brundlehome woods from the path so people could get to Threlkeld. However I believe the walkway part of the path was then closed guess to part of it being unsafe. Contact tourist information or lake district national park hopefully they can tell you.
However they have now -This Week - closed again part of the walkway before the diversion . Repairs will take a few weeks !
If you want to walk to Threlkeld you have to stick to the North side of the River - maybe via Latrigg - its not straightforward.
Walkway has now been reopened .
So Diverted path toThrelkeld is now accessible.
Warning this route does include a climb up the bank to the road (closed to traffic) in Brundholme woods; it is not a cycle track.Edited: 04 August 2017, 18:00
Thanks for the update. Does the bank have a footpath or not, many thanks.
There are steps up the bank.
Its not difficult but if you were expecting a flattish wide track - like the old railway one you will be very disappointed !
