suggest and interesting route Bath to Mickelton

My daughter and I will be travelling from Bath to a B&B at Mickelton in early May as part of our 4 week UK trip. WE will spend 3 nights there, another full day exploring the Cotswalds from Mickelton and one day will be a day trip to Oxford.

We are looking for suggestions for an interesting route from Bath and what to see along the way as we have all day to get up to Mickelton.

(note sorry about the typo"and" in the title, couldn't edit it out!!)

Thanks to all that's great I'll look at the route based on your suggestions . I'm interested in Roman sites,I knowof the museum in Cirencester but is parking and access easy? I've read a little frustrating driving in. Is the Chedworth Roman Villa site worthy of a diversion ?

It looks like they have walkways above the mosaics completed so I think we will have a look on the way north, fortunately I won't be there for Father's day !
