Is it possible to do a 3 day 2/3 night circular walk on exmoor. Coming by car then walking and camping (preferably wild if not on camp sites).
All suggestions welcome.
There are lots of paths to walk on Exmoor so it would depend if you wanted to be on the heath land (heather) or the wilder part the forest (grassland). IMO the heathland would give wonderful view and you have the wild ponies and deer. But your choice.
The trick would be 3 nights with campsites on your circular walk returning to your start point where you can safely leave your car. Leaving your car is an important bit. It should be in a village or small town for security. Also how far you plan to walk each day.
Camping on the moor is forbidden and it would be a pain if a ranger came to move you on when you were settled and you had to pack everything up and find somewhere late evening. There are lots of lovely campsites so perhaps locate these and work the walk around them.
A suggestion is Cloud Farm http://www.cloudfarmcamping.co.uk/ in the heart of the moor and by a river.
Another though busier another lovely one is at Lynbridge nr Lynton.
Lovely to explore. You would need to do some research to find the ones that suit you.
