Cape Town Itinerary Ideas – would love suggestions/advice

My husband and I are travelling to Cape Town in October this year. We will be there 5 days approximately (Arriving 2pm on Day 1 and departing 6pm Day 5)

We have a couple of activities in mind but wanted to know if they are worthwhile or if there are any other suggestions?

Great White Shark Dive – Gansbaai

Table Mountain

Robben Island

Cape of Good Hope Nature reserve

Stellenbosch

We are considering hiring a car to drive to the activities but also wondered if any of the above would be better to do with a tour group?

Any ideas, suggestions, advice would be greatly appreciate. We have no set plans at the moment and are up for anything.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Laura

Table Mountain, Robbin Island, The City Center, Camps Bay and all other places of interest in the City you can explore with the Hop on Hop off Bus. For more info about that, www.citysightseeing.co.za .

The Wine Lands and The Peninsula are very easy to get too and are doable with a rental car. Easy to drive and the roads are very well tarred. A full day for both will be needed, so your schedule will be busy. The Shark Cage, Table Mountain and Robbin Island are would suggest you get out of the way with in the first few days of your visit, because they are depending on the weather.

Day01: Late arrival and try to get in Table Mountain with Long Street. Day02: Shark Cage Diving which will take the full day. Day03: Wine Lands, full day. Day04: Peninsula, full day. Day05: Robbin Island will take about 3-4hours. Try to book early boat that leaves at 9am.

Best Regards

Thanks Hank for the daily itinerary ideas - helps me alot to know how much time to allocate to each. We have such a limited time in cape town I really want to fit as much in but i also really want the chance to slow down and feel the 'vibe' of cape town!

Table Mountain, Shark diving and Robben island are weather defendant, so I would try get those done first if the weather is playing along...

You can do shark diving in Simon's Town so you could combine this with the peninsula trip or an afternoon in the Winelands.
