Distillery District Hotels???

Are there any accommodations actually located in the Distillery District of Toronto? Would a five-six night stay in this area be too long? Single, senior lady traveller looking for quaint, pedestrian friendly area to hang her hat for about a week or less. Would prefer to walk out my door and

"be there". Having trouble finding something actually located in the "District.

If not available, please suggest something close by with easy transportation.

Love to boutique shop, visit galleries, people watch, cafe/wine sit... or pick any area and send

suggestions. Loved Quebec City and Montreal... thought a "quaint" area of Toronto would be

the next jaunt and The Distillery District has been suggested on-line...???

Your suggestions appreciated.....

The Distillery District is an odd duck in the sense that it is in a very historic area, yet, it is isolated from much of downtown (this is changing quickly). The only relatively close places I can think of are the Novotel on The Esplanade or the King Edward. However, there are large condo buildings completed within the District in the last couple of years. They may have vacation rentals in those locations. The names of those condos are: Pure Spirit, Clear Spirit and The Gooderham. Try searching for them.

Failing that, getting to the DD by TTC is relatively easy through the King streetcar, and in all honesty, the DD will only keep you entertained for a few hours and you may be better off in a more central location.

Hope this helps...

Cabbagetown

Riverdale/Danforth

Yorkville

The Annex

All of these are neighbourhoods in more central locations, with character, with easy access within the city to either walk or get public transit. Most have either hotels, B&B's, or vacation rentals available.

Given your criteria, I think you would also enjoy the Bloor West Village area of Toronto...........there are quite a few B & B's in the area as well as The Old Mill which is both a hotel and restaurant, along with a very large park - High Park - which is the Toronto equivalent of NYC's Central Park.........BWV, located west of the downtown core is a lovely, primarily residential section of Toronto, with a vibrant boutique shopping/dining scene located along Bloor Street west, and easily accessed via TTC with a major subway stop at High Park................

A quick search for "Distillery District vacation rentals" did turn up a bunch of apartments in condominium buildings being rented out, but that'd be your only choices in that immediate area.

In spite of the influx of residents, the Distillery District still feels like more of a destination than a neighbourhood. At a relaxed pace, it might be good for a day, but not a week. Toronto is a city of great neighbourhoods ( tripadvisor.ca/Travel-g155019-s204/Toronto:O… describes many of them) and one of those would probably make a better base.
