Pesos or U.S. Dollors?
Just use Pesos.
If American money is worth approximately $18 to 1 peso why on earth wouldn't they want an American dollar for a tip? And yes I am math impaired so please somebody explain this to me - lol!
Because 20 Pesos is more than 18...and they won't net 18 when cashed.
I am sure others will chime in
Just giving my 2 cents
My understanding it is a hassle for them to convert US dollars to Pesos at the bank
When I travel to the US I get US currency
When I travel to Mexico I get Mexico currency
I just find it easier to work with the local currency
In my experience I seem to get better service if I tip in pesos.
More than likely though it is because after a few drinks and in the midst of a food coma I am probably tipping VERY generously as my brain can't handle the eating, drinking AND math while on vacation! The service gets better, the vacation gets better and life is grand!
You just smiled and said Buenos Dias to me?? Well heck, I just had a Corona for breakfast, here's $200 pesos!
So for me (and I think for all the folks I am tipping) pesos are the only way to go!
