Walkability

Hola..we were in PE several years ago. We were staying in Huatulco and came up twice for the blues festival. It seemed that it was not an easy place to get around . Do they have a bus system and/or combos that get you around to different areas of the city? Is there a central area where it is best to stay? I know this gets old..(we've been coming for 30 years) but is the area generally safe from crime..petty or otherwise? Gracias

Lots of places to stay; depending on what you're looking for amenities, food, and things like that. The Rinconada area and Bacocho is where you would have gone to the blues fest if Brad's Split Coconut was still there. Since then he's moved near the beginning of Zicatela. Cabs and combos travel all around town and to the outlying areas. There is also a decent residential area near Playa Manzinillo / Lighthouse area. There are some hotels in the "upper" portion of town. Above highway 200. All good places to stay. Rinconada is more laid back with older visitors but also a couple hostels. The upper area of town is usually occupied by Mexican National and puts you close to the grocery store. Zicatela has a lot of younger people but still a mixed crowd almost everywhere.

Thank you for the great info. We have been in the Guayabitos/Bucerias area for the past few years and before that Zihuatenejo..we would be looking for condo apt type accommodation for a month or so..so where would you recommend for a couple of active, "older"..folks ?

People get around by taxi, which costs only 30 pesos.
