Yep--a few years back we went in mid-October. The weather was beautiful...I don't know if any time that's NOT GOOD in St. John!!! it's the end of hurricane season I believe--you might want to check into trip insurance just in case.

We were in the VI in Oct '06. Weather was good. Early morning or evening, when the temperature dropped it would occasionally rain but rarely would the entire day be a washout.

We will be in St. John October 3rd. This will be our third year to go on our anniversary (Oct 8). We have been there 10 days in October thus far and have had one day of rain. The morning it was raining, we took the ferry to Jost Van Dyke and had sunny skies all day! The weather was warm in the day and cool, but humid at night. I wouldn't do October w/out ac.

we went sec wk oct 04 (1st trip to stj) and weather was great but very warm in days and a/c must on west side, not crowded and water temp the best. back oct 05 and all same except 3 days of rain, monsoons.

subsequent trips dec, jan, feb and aprils, drier, cooler, including water, and much more crowded. feb 08 was great weather & temp but won't repeat due to cool water and crowds (not by fl stds, just as compared to other times we've been to stj).

as last minute travlers, we always consider oct since overall can be ideal for southerns accustomed to heat and humidity if no projected tropical storms. based on my observations since 04 maybe future risk 10 to 15% of multiple days of bad weather in oct plus low % hurricane risk since that's peak of season.

We love October. Some restaurants are closed, but there is always plenty going on. Check out stjohnspice.com for Ruth's restaurants closing schedule as you get closer to August.

You'll love it - empty beaches, no reservations required.

We went in March for spring break and vowed - never again!!!

Cheers, RickG
