1 1/2 days on STT?

My husband and I will be spending 2 nights at the Marriott before we cruise out of St. Thomas. We will have 1/2 day plus a 1 full day on the island and will not be renting a car. I am hoping we can enjoy the pool/beach at the Marriott on the first day since we arrive in the afternoon and want to relax after traveling. Do you have any suggestions of things to see/do on our full day. Any beaches, restaurants, beach bars that are a close cab ride to the Marriott? Ideally a good beach with a bar/restaurant on site.

Thanks!

I would suggest that since you only have a day and an afternoon to stay put right where you are. After getting checked in go down to the infinity pool and veg out have some drinks from the pool bar and enjoy the view from the pool. There is a nice restaurant right there so you don't have to go anywhere that first day. I believe I have a photo or two up on this sight of the infinity pool and area.

The next morning go down to the beach and get your complimentary chairs and umbrella. If you want an umbrella you have to get there early and claim the chairs. They have a really nice little restaurant right on the beach where you can get buckets of beer or whatever as well as a nice breakfast and or lunch. There is also a very nice pool on the beach level so you can always enjoy the ocean and the pool. Down the beach is an upscale steak restaurant which is ok so you could always go there for dinner. Believe me that day and a half will go soooo fast.

Then, if you want to come back and spend more time here search vrbo.com and rent from an owner. Of course I would suggest Sapphire beach but read up and make your own decision.

Enjoy your stay and cruise!

I think you'd very much enjoy an island tour for a couple of hours which the concierges would be happy to arrange for you with one of the taxi drivers. The island is very diverse and seeing more of it other than the main drag between the airport and the Marriott will give you a much better appreciation of what St Thomas has to offer!

I would def like to get out to explore and at least see a little of the island!

STT, you think it is possible to maybe arrange a driving tour to see some of the island and then be dropped at a beach (with bar/restaurant) and then catch a taxi back to hotel after we are done there?

I'm sure that can be arranged! Secret Harbour on the East end might be a good choice - lovely beach and a decent restaurant there.

I, too, think you should do an island tour. I think the Marriott uses Tropic Tours for their island tours which may not be as flexible as a taxi driver tour. Best to ask for clarification and tell them that you specifically want a tour with beach drop off at Secret Harbor (nicer restaurant than some of the other beaches). There are usually taxis at Secret Harbor to bring you back, but if not they will call one for you.

Sounds great! We will check at the hotel when we get there!

Are taxi tours common? I am also curious how the snorkeling is a Secret Harbor?

Yes, taxi tours are very common. Snorkeling at Secret Harbor is very good and if you need gear there's the Aqua Action Dive Shop on site.
