Club Med first timer - any Turks advice?

Excited and nervous - booked my first Club Med adventure for our 25th anniversary. I'll read all the posts, but are there any important do/don't do activities that are near the property? We won't have a car, and it appears we'll be eating at the Club Med most (all?) the time. Thanks for any advice!!

I've been to the Club Med about 18 times, so obviously we like it.

Don't hesitate to get out and explore a bit, whether on foot or car or excursion. If you want to get out to some of the local restaurants, my suggestion is to do it early in your stay because after a couple of days, you will have met new friends that you will want to meet for dinner at the CM..

Rather than saying too much here, I'll point you to my personal we page with several trip reports (just scroll down looking for the Turk & Caicos/Best Beach reports) and at the top of that page read the "Guide for First TIme GMs". Club Med is different from any other resort you may have stayed at and it helps to have a little understanding before you arrive.

If you’re a golfer, there’s a course within walking distance that’s absolute paradise (white-sand bunkers and flamingos).

As aotbaby mentioned, Provo Golf Club is located 1.3 km or a short 15 minute walk from Club Med. From Club Med, head southwest toward Grace Bay Road, turn left onto Grace Bay Road, pass Provo Water, and then a right to Provo Golf Club.

We're [probably beating the golf course horse to death, but......

While THG is correct in his directions, that will be the long way and probably about twice as far as you need to go. The entrance road to Club Med is rather long and takes you in the direction away form the golf course. The much shorter route is to go to the north/east end of Club Med, just past the SCUBA dock and go behind Rickys Flamingo Cafe Restaurant to the road that leads to Grace bay road. Where the road meets Grace Bay road, take a short (100-200 ft) jog right and you will be at the entrance to the golf course. Much shorter.

Amateur, Google Maps is my friend. Sometimes it doesn't do me right! Thanks for the tip of the short cut.

When Google Maps falls down, Google Earth is the better go-to. :-)

Thanks, everyone! We're not golfers, but the more I read about the CM activities, the less likely it seems we'll be looking for more to do! Starting to read up on other restaurants. Getting excited!
