Online tours or go on your own

Online tours or go on your own

We are staying at Moon Palace in July. My family of four (all adults) would like to go to Dunn River Falls and the Blue Hole. Should we book the tour that does it all in one day? Should we book two tours and do them two different days? Or should we just take taxi rides or bus rides to each place and pay admission rates when we get there? I think we could especially do the falls on our own, but wasn't sure about Blue Hole.

You could do Blue Hole on your own, there are guides when you get there. They are both doable in one day though with maybe a visit to somewhere else local and stop for lunch at Scotchies. It works out cheaper to do a multi-stop day as opposed to separate tours. If you want a really good, reasonable priced private driver, contact Kemar Smile of Inside Tours. He will tailor the day around you.

It would be cheaper you take a taxi to/from and pay the admission fees.

Both can be done in a day, Dunn's Falls admission fee Adults US$23 per person, Child 4-12 years old US$15 per person.

Blue Hole/Island Gully Falls Adults US$15 per person, Child 2-12 years old US$10 per person.

Make a day of it and do them both early. Dunn's River entrance fee is $20 for visitors.

One caution it's going to be hoootttttt, so start early in the morning and get an air condioned ride.

Our family will also be at Moon Palace this July! I had the same question and kept looking for alternatives to travel because that seems to be a waste of money to the resort. HOWEVER, MP offers a tour called "Ocho Rios Hilite Tour", you can't use resort credits, but it's $69 per person, and covers the admission to Dunn's Falls & Coyaba Gardens in addition to a stop in town to shop and a drive through Fern Gully. That excursion seemed worth it, but we're taxiing to Luminous Lagoon and we're still looking for a local Rum Tasting Plantation!

Amy K - Check out Hampden Estates http://hampdenrumcompany.com/index.html - it will be a much closer tour than going to Appleton -

Yes! That one was closer, but they only do tours in the morning. No afternoon or dinner time reservations.
